What is LASIK?

If you’ve been longing to reduce—or even eliminate—your dependence on glasses and contact lenses, you’ve probably looked into refractive surgery. LASIK is a modern, state-of-the-art refractive procedure designed to correct myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), and astigmatism (uneven focusing of light). LASIK involves using cool pulses of light to prepare the cornea for surgery. The cornea is then reshaped using a cool ultra-violet laser. The whole procedure generally takes around 15 minutes per eye. LASIK's laser-improved precision allows the surgeon to tailor the procedure to the shape of your individual eye for personalized, satisfying results.
