What Can I Expect During an Eye Exam?

An eye exam is an essential checkup that ensures your eyes are healthy and your vision is clear. During the exam, your eye doctor will perform various tests, including:

Vision test
Eye muscle test
Pupil response check
Refraction test
Eye pressure test
Dilated eye exam

The type of testing performed will depend on your vision and any eye conditions you have or are at risk of developing. The exam usually takes thirty minutes to an hour, and your eye doctor will answer any questions you have and let you know if you need glasses or contacts.

Our Routine Eye Exams May Cover:

Annual eye check-ups for patients without medical problems of the eyes
Glasses prescriptions
Contact lens exams

How Often Should I Schedule an Eye Exam?

Regular eye exams are crucial for healthy vision. How often you need to see your eye doctor will depend on a variety of factors including your age, eye health and family history of eye conditions. Adults under 60 can typically wait two years between exams if there are no issues. Adults over 60 should have an annual exam since they are more likely to develop eye conditions. If you wear glasses or contacts, you'll need to get checked more frequently to ensure the prescription's accuracy. Your eye doctor at Center for Total Eye Care can determine the best exam schedule for your eyes and overall health.

Testimonials

“Dr. Young was very thorough and identified an issue with my eye. I was able to resolve the issue with a specialist before it became critical.”

“My wife had an appointment a few weeks ago with Dr Uriel Young at the Center for Total Eye Care in Westminster. She said Dr. Young was very professional and patient with her. He explained the examination results with clarity, in layman's terms. She liked him so much that I went and had an examination even though it has been over 10 years since I was seen by an Optometerist. Dr. Young will be taking care of my family's vision needs in the future. I suggest you do the same. Thank you Dr. Young for a pleasant experience!”

“Dr Young gave comprehensive eye examination. Very patient, took time to answer all my questions. He observed things another opthamologist overlooked! I received a detailed report and the proper Eye Care that I have needed for some time. The staff is friendly and professional. I highly recommend Center for Total Eye Care! They have very high standards.”
